Northwest Federal Credit Union recently received Leadership Fairfax’s Corporate Leadership award as part of the 24th Annual Northern Virginia Leadership Awards program. Leadership Fairfax is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization focused on training, inspiring and engaging leaders to impact issues facing local communities and the Northern Virginia region. The five award winners were recognized as outstanding leaders making a difference in the community.

“One of Northwest Federal’s goals has always been to positively impact people’s lives, including our members, employees and the communities we serve,” said President and CEO of Northwest Federal Credit Union, Jeff Bentley. “Receiving this award is especially meaningful for our organization because it recognizes the work we have done to fulfill this goal.”

Northwest Federal’s employees are active volunteers who work with the credit union’s Community Partners to support 501(c)3s that benefit the arts, animal rescues, nature preservation and individuals with disabilities or lack of resources. Employees are provided 24 hours of paid volunteer time each year, and in 2019, employees volunteered more than 9,000 hours with organizations of their choice. Additionally, the credit union’s philanthropic arm, the NWFCU Foundation, focuses on support for local at-promise children, including school supplies, food assistance and scholarships.
