Northwest Federal Hires VP for its Charitable Foundation


JANUARY 16, 2024 – Northwest Federal Credit Union (NWFCU) is proud to announce that former CEO of the CORE Foundation Taralyn Tharp Kohler, was recently hired as VP of The NWFCU Foundation.

Ms. Kohler brings with her over 20 years of high performing executive leadership experience in the telecom and the nonprofit sectors with a proven track record in delivering revenue results, building high-performance teams, and developing strong partnerships. Her visionary leadership supported over 35 charitable projects championing veterans’ needs, battling homelessness and food insecurity, serving the LBGTQIA+ community, and more.

In her role as Executive Director of the Barnett-Searing National Cancer Foundation, Ms. Kohler oversaw fundraising and operational aspects, and spearheaded a successful rebranding effort, creating greater visibility for the organization.

“I am very excited to be leading the Northwest Foundation,” said Kohler.  “Having served on the Northwest Advisory Board, I knew Northwest was a top-notch organization, and I am thrilled to be working for and focusing on providing much needed resources to youths in our community.”

Ms. Kohler recently received a lifetime achievement award from the President’s Volunteer Service Award for completing over 4,000 hours of volunteerism.

“We’ve had a community partnership with CORE Foundation for years,” said Northwest President and CEO of Northwest Federal Jeff Bentley. “Taralyn brings fresh energy with her, and we are excited to have her at the helm of our Foundation.”
